Introduction

SkylarkTV is built to show off a number of core features of the Skylark platform. You can run through these features using the control panel accessed by clicking the arrow in the bottom right corner of the browser window.

Customer Type

This option demonstrates how Skylark displays different content to different types (or segments) of user. In this case, it's customers. Clicking on Kids for example will show a drastically different set of content.

Standard and Premium users have a slightly more subtle distinction between their offerings - with some Premium content excluded from the Standard user's view. This is because the Premium content has been linked to an availability rule in Skylark that will only present content to Premium users.

Can you spot all the differences between the three customer types?

Region

The Region option allows you to see how StreamTV handles displaying content to different geological locales.

There's a special rail shown in the European region called Across The Pond. It's full of American content. When you switch to the North American region - does the content stay the same? What happens when you click on the Middle East?

Language

Skylark is equally at home presenting content to different customer types and regions, and multiple languages are no different. We've chosen to support Portuguese here in StreamTV but there is no limit to the amount of other languages you're able to support in Skylark.

For a particularly engaging look at how much can change using Skylark's segmentation tools, try selecting the Middle East region and the Arabic language.

Time Travel

That's right! You can time travel using Skylark (& SkylarkTV!). One of the key features of Skylark's availability system is that you can schedule content to be made available to users days, weeks, months or even years into the future. This demo illustrates that by showing you content that doesn't go live for 7 days.

Find the New TV releases rail and click on House of the Dragon. Note that The Rogue Prince has an Upcoming tag showing on it. Click on the episode to see a thumbnail image in the player saying Sunday at 9pm. Open our control panel again using the arrow in the bottom right and use the time travel option to move 7 days into the future! Can you see what's changed?

Search

Skylark's search isn't just lightning fast, it's also availability aware. So your customers only ever get to see the content you want them to.

Try searching for Obi Wan as a Premium User. Then drop down to Standard and try again. See the difference? That's right, there are no longer any results for the Obi Wan Kenobi TV show we saw the first time.

Conclusion

That's the end of our demo for now. We hope that you've been able to come away with a better understanding of how StreamTV works, and just how powerful Skylark is in turn.
