Skylark is a fantastically powerful content segmentation tool. However, it's not much use without data to segment! Skylark offers you a number of different ways to get your data ingested, including ingest via the API, manual creation via the UI and finally, batch ingest via CSV. This article is primarily concerned with this last option.

For documentation on how to create objects via the API, please see our API documentation, which you can find here.

Prerequisites

  • A Skylark Account + API Key (This can be provided by your customer success representative)

  • Your own dataset in csv format.

Stage 1: Prepare Your Data

We begin this process in the Skylark UI.

  • After you've logged in, navigate to the Content Library and click + Create New.

  • Select Import (CSV)

  • Choose a Skylark Object type from the dropdown.

  • You can then choose to download an example csv or go straight to 'Import'.

Our recommendation is to use the example csv to understand what fields each object will require and amend your own csv to match.

Stage 2: Import Your CSV

  • Once you're ready click on 'Import' to get to the next stage.

  • Drag and drop your csv into the drop box or click 'Select File' to find it on your computer.

  • Pick your header row then click Continue

  • Match the column titles from your csv file against the fields required for the Skylark object, then click Continue

  • You can now review your data for a final time before the ingest is triggered. Please note that you can edit any of the fields you see in the table displayed in this step.

Stage 3: Start Segmenting Your Data

  • Once you're ready, click Save & Finalize to begin importing your data into Skylark.

  • Click Start Curating.

  • You've now successfully imported your data into Skylark! Happy Segmenting!
